• “Released on LML in 2001, Rondi Charleston’s debut recording, Love Letters, was terrific with great vocals and beautiful production values. Yet somehow I couldn’t help feeling that she was holding back just a bit with interpretations that were a bit too studied. That’s not the case at all with her follow-up effort, love is the thing, also on LML and newly released this month. Co-produced with Peter Eldridge, with arrangements and musical direction courtesy of Ted Firth, love is the thing finds Charleston coming into her own as an accomplished jazz stylist, singing with a relaxed confidence and impressive technique.
