About Judy Kreston & David Lahm…

On June 1, 2004, Judy Kreston and David Lahm celebrated their musical partnership of twenty-four years, as well as almost fourteen years as husband and wife. Kreston, daughter of eminent concert pianist Gitta Gradova, and Lahm, son of Tony and Academy Award winning lyricist Dorothy Fields, are among the brightest talents on the turbulent scene known as New York City cabaret. They command a faithful audience that has thrilled to countless evenings of memorable music - songs and medleys that are amorous, dynamic, thoughtful, funny, sweet or sad. Their latest CD, "Medleyfyin'- A Unique Tribute to Richard Rodgers" was released this past July on the LML Records label.

Judy was born in Chicago and early on became a pupil of the great Marian Anderson. As a teenager, Judy sang at weddings and bar mitzvahs as well as in stage shows that accompanied the movies. She left home to join the Shrine Circus, forsaking a role in the national company of "My Fair Lady" to do so. She toured military bases with a USO troupe, playing Laurie in "Oklahoma" and loving it. But New York beckoned, so she continued her apprenticeship in the Catskills resort hotels, those summer homes to the stars and would-be stars of tomorrow.

David, a native New Yorker, who earned a degree in English literature from Amherst College, was thrilled by the music of Thelonious Monk and started playing jazz for college audiences. He broadened his horizons on the New York and international scenes as a jazz composer and interpreter, along with developing his talent in accompanying, arranging and musical directing. David is a recording artist with ARKADIA-JAZZ and has several CD's in current release.

Last year, Judy and David closed their elegant, upscale, supper club and piano bar, Judy's Chelsea, in downtown Manhattan, but they can still be found performing in well known New York City cabarets and small theater venues throughout the country.
