About Wendy Coates
Wendy Coates has an extensive musical theatre and cabaret background. The recording of her acclaimed show Journeys was released by LML Music in 2000. Journeys was an intimate collaboration with Musical Director Christpher Denny and Director Andrew Sellon. It was first performed at Don’t Tell Mama’s in New York in 1998. In May of 1997 she originated the role of the Barrister in The Wizard of Oz at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden. She continued with the production on National Tour, featuring Mickey Rooney and cabaret diva Eartha Kitt. Her cabaret appearance prior to Journeys was an autobiographical show entitled Short Stories performed at Don’t Tell Mama’s in New York. This was her first collaboration with Musical Director Christopher Denny and Director Andrew Sellon. She and Andrew had previously performed together in a cabaret show entitled Together With Music at Panache Encore, where they caught the ear of Sidney Myer for the first time. Wendy’s other Musical Theatre roles include the Gossip Columnist in Merrily We Role Along, Thumbelina in Carnival at the Berkshire Theatre Festival and Thea in a national touring company of Pippin. She is a founding member of Lighting Strikes Theatre Company, and has performed numerous roles with them at Synchronicity Space in SoHo. Film credits include Woody Allen’s Radio Days and The Muppets Take Manhattan.
