David Gurland doesn't sing a song, he perfroms it. Each tune has a point of view , a reason, a passion. Possesed of an extraordinary tenor voice, with his vaulting high notes he can just as readily thrill you as break your heart. He blends the sheer beauty of his vocal talent with an original musical sensibility to create fresh interpretations of songs like his edgy obsessional rendition of 'Every Breath You Take,' his heatrtbreaking 'Where've You been?,' and his joyous 'At Last.' On this , his debut CD, you will find the David Gurland we have seen blosson into a talent of dimension and scope. We've listend to this album over and over and find our pleasure in it inccreasing each time through. There is no doubt that David Gurland is in a class by himself. This album is proof of it."-Barbara and Scott Siegel

 | On his new self titled disc, David Gurland emerges as an excellent interpreter of contemporary pop songs. His reading of Billy Joel?s "Vienna" is respectful of the original. His cover of "Where?ve You Been," a song I first heard by Kathy Mattea that I?ve always thought would be perfect sung by a gay man, is awe? inspiring. Gurland also re imagines Sting?s "Every Breath You Take" and Bacharach and David?s "Anyone Who Had A Heart" with great success.

 | There's one element too few performers toss into their mix: danger. This guy has no qualms about doing so, and it makes his appearances especially intriguing. He's got a fire-plug physique, and a five alarm fire attitude toward a song?A performer with that much edge bears very close watching.

 | It's said that Cabaret is less about vocal excellence than quality of interpretation--but look out when someone offers both. In other words look out for David Gurland, a tenor with an arresting sound and a provocative way with a lyric...he's as thrilling as any singer in town.

 | David Gurland soars with a tenor that's sweeter than honey. He sings with a passion, personality and a puckish sense of humor that's all his own.

 |
 | David Gurland is one of the best male cabaret performers around. He gave everything he did his own personal stamp. He sang his songs not only beautifully, but with full conviction.
Roy Sander, Backstage |

 | Gurland throws himself into his material with fervor and conviction. His voice has a beautiful centered tone with a burnished top. It throbs with the passion of a young Billy Joel.
