Andrew Suvalsky’s “A World That Swings”, his second recording (September 2008 release; LML Music/Allegro Distribution), firmly establishes him as one of the strongest and most noteworthy presences in the world of up and coming male jazz / pop-crossover vocalists. The recording, whose title is borrowed from one of the CD’s many swinging tracks, is the artist’s opportunity to show his serious vocal and interpretive prowess - whether swinging, scatting, or smoothly evoking the deepest essence of a ballad’s lyric - while sharing his infectious notion that a musical and swinging world is just the place we would all like to live in. It is also his chance to prove that the fantastic reviews and awards, as well as swelling fan and critical base, garnered with the release of his debut recording, “Vintage Pop and the Jazz Sides” (April 2006), was anything but a case of beginner’s luck. Soon after, he was regularly performing with the Old Town Jazz Finesse at the historic Fairmont Hotel and Chicago’s Up-and-Coming Jazz Review at Magnum Supper Club. He moved to New York in 1998 and produced and starred in his one-man show, “All I Want”, followed by two other original shows, “My American Songbook” performed at Danny’s Skylight Room and “Closer to My Own Age” at club Bar D’O. With the 2006 release of his debut recording “Vintage Pop and the Jazz Sides”, Andrew showcased a unique ability to artfully blur the line between jazz standards and classic pop songs. The result was a new sound, un-matched by peers performing a similar repertoire. The CD was heralded as one the Top Ten Jazz CD’s of that year by John Hoglund (Playbill, Back Stage Magazine, Theater Scene). His sold-out performances celebrating its release at New York’s The Metropolitan Room won him a Bistro Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance while a promo single from the CD, “Love is Alive” reached number one on numerous indie-radio formats. A yearlong performance schedule promoting the debut CD culminated in sold-out performances at New York’s legendary Blue Note Jazz Club. Andrew continues to perform regularly in and outside of New York City, and is currently working on arrangements and recordings of his own original music.
