About Sean McDermott
Singer/Actor Sean McDermott was born and raised in Denver, CO and began studying classical piano at an early age. His interests changed at age 13 when he started vocal training. Sean went on to College for his bachelor's degree in music and soon after moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. He became recognized as one of Broadway’s leading performers starring in Miss Saigon, Falsettos, Starlight Express and Grease. He also starred in productions of Chicago, Jekyll and Hyde, Jesus Christ SuperStar, Carousel, Show Boat, South Pacific and West Side Story.
Sean was one of four Broadway singers hand picked by Barbra Streisand to replace "Il Divo" and sing along side her on her European tour in 2007. Prior to that, he has traveled the world performing with some of the most celebrated Symphony Orchestras and has shared the stage with such luminaries as Bernadette Peters, Mandy Patinkin, Johnny Mathis and Robert Goulet.
Sean sang for the President of the United States at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on three separate occasions. He made his solo debut garnering glowing reviews at New York's prestigious Joe's Pub, at the Public Theater and is also proud to have performed at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
His solo recordings include "New York Nights", "My Broadway" and "Piece of Sky" all available on iTunes.
His latest CD "You're Not Alone" is a combination of original and cover tunes that have inspired Sean over the years.
