IN GOOD COMPANY [Revisited] – “Stay The Night” with Stacy Sullivan

Posted at 11:28 am by Lee Lessack

10 years ago, I embarked on a life-changing artistic endeavor to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my LML Music record label. Under the supreme musical direction of  Johnny Rodgers and his amazing band we invited 17 brilliant vocalists to join me in the studio to create “In Good Company”. It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed and even harder to imagine that LML Music has been around for 20 years! To celebrate all of the above, I am going to share one track each week which I hope you will enjoy.

“Stay The Night” with Stacy Sullivan

I became a huge fan of this song after hearing Jane Oliver’s version when I was in college.  I knew that Stacy Sullivan’s voice would bring a sultry, smokey, deliciousness to the duet and the fact that she’s one of my all-time favorite souls on the planet didn’t hurt either!  Thank you Brian Lane Green for the inspired arrangement!

“Vincent” with Ken Page

The second Broadway show I saw as a kid was “The Wiz” and I shall never forget Ken’s performance as The Lion.   His voice has resonated with me for years and it’s a blessing to call him a friend.   I can’t think of anyone else to interpret this classic tune by Don McLean.
