In Good Company [Revisited] – “The Rose” with Amanda McBroom

Posted at 12:07 pm by Kelly McCready

10 years ago, I embarked on a life-changing artistic endeavor to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my LML Music record label. Under the supreme musical direction of Johnny Rodgers and his amazing band we invited 17 brilliant vocalists to join me in the studio to create “In Good Company”. It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed and even harder to imagine that LML Music has been around for 20 years! To celebrate all of the above, I am going to share one track each week which I hope you will enjoy.

“The Rose” with Amanda McBroom

I’ve been a huge fan of Amanda’s song catalogue for many years and was very excited that she agreed to join me on a duet.  However, I was truly over the moon when she suggested that we sing her mega-hit “The Rose” together.   It’s probably one of the simplest, purest and most powerful songs ever written.   It had never been recorded as a duet and I am honored that she shared that moment with me.

“Let It Be Me” with David Burnham

David has the voice of an angel and it’s been one of my greatest joys to share the concert stage with him over the past 20+ years.   If you’re anywhere near Vegas you can now catch David as the star of the new “Steve Wynn’s SHOWSTOPPERS” at the Encore Theatre in the Wynn Hotel.

Album of the Week – “Just In Time For Christmas” by Nancy LaMott

Posted at 7:09 pm by Kelly McCready

NancyToday, we’re doing something a little different and paying homage to one of the most beautiful people we’ve ever worked with: Nancy LaMott. Starting in the Midwest, Nancy got herself out of a less than perfect childhood and moved out to San Francisco to pursue music. Always plagued by illness and a lack of funds, Nancy was a fighter and became known in a small circle as one of the best cabaret singers in the world.

Praise for the singer was unparalleled:

“The best cabaret singer I ever heard … heartfelt, irresistibly appealing” – Terry Teachout, Wall Street Journal

Unfortunately, the world never heard Nancy’s brilliance. She lost her battle to uterine cancer at the age of 43. To read more about the symptoms of uterine cancer, click here.

It’s the 20th anniversary of “Just In Time For Christmas” and we’re proud to say it’s one of our favorites. Here’s the track listing:

1 Some Children See Him
2 I Saw Three Ships/Bring A Torch, Jeannette, Isabella
3 Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town
4 I’ll Be Home For Christmas
5 (Christmas) Stay With Me
6 Earth And Sky
7 All Those Christmas Cliches
8 What Child Is This/I Wonder As I Wonder
9 A Child Is Born
10 Just In Time For Christmas
11 Baby, It’s Cold Outside
12 A Song For Christmas
13 The Christmas Song

In Good Company [Revisited] – “Blue Guitar” with Susan Werner

“Blue Guitar” with Susan Werner

I had been a huge fan (borderline stalker) of Susan Werner for many years after discovering her at a random in-store appearance at the Virgin Megastore in LA.   I recorded her song “Much at All” in 1998 on my album “I Know You By Heart.”   As I was prepping production on “In Good Company” I received a lovely email from Susan (7 years after the fact) that she had just heard my recording and loved it :) YAY!   I immediately went out on a limb and asked if she’d be willing/interested in being part of this duets project and she agreed.   It was a full circle moment for me and I’m proud to call her a friend.   She is one of my all-time favorite singer/songwriters and just about the loveliest gal you could hope to meet.
